The All American 1930 vent pipe is the primary pressure relief valve attached to the cover, designed to fit all All American pressure cookers/canners, such as models 910 (10.5 qt), 915 (15.5 qt), 921 (21.5 qt), 925 (25 qt), 930 (30 qt), and 941 (41.5 qt). Made of brass with an electroplated nickel finish, the vent pipe is crucial for maintaining proper pressure control during use.
Combining the vent pipe with the pressure regulator weight, the All American 1930 Automatic Pressure Control system ensures safe and efficient operation. The vent pipe attaches to the cover, while the pressure regulator weight sits on top of it, allowing excess steam to be released at 18 pounds of pressure.
It is essential to regularly inspect the openings to the overpressure plug, the vent pipe, and the steam pressure gauge, ensuring that steam can pass through them without obstruction. Before using the cooker/canner, hold the cover up to the light to check if the vent pipe is clear. If you cannot see light through the vent pipe, it may be blocked.
To clean the vent pipe, carefully insert a piece of wire and gently run it in and out to clear any obstructions. Rinse the vent pipe with hot water. If a wire is not available, a pipe cleaner or Q-tip can be used instead. It is crucial never to use or operate the pressure cooker if the vent pipe is blocked and you cannot see light through it, as any obstructions must be removed before use to prevent the risk of scalding injury.
In the event of excess pressure build-up inside the cooker, where the steam pressure gauge registers in the caution range and the pressure regulator weight has not automatically released the pressure, immediate action is required. First, turn off the heat source and do not remove the pressure cooker. Allow the cooker to cool completely until it is cold to the touch, which may take an hour or more. Only then is it safe to remove the cover, and only after the gauge reads at ZERO.
Once the cooker has cooled, clean the vent pipe and the steam pressure gauge passages as described above. If necessary, a new vent pipe can be purchased from the factory.
Our vent pipe replacement offers an easy and cost-effective solution for addressing issues with pressure cookers, eliminating the need to replace the entire unit.
